香港文學的都市論述及其邊界

Reflections Upon the Discourse of Hong Kong Urban Literature

摘要

本文首先回顧目前香港都市文學研究的情況，把主要的研究方向概括為兩部分，首先是現代主義文學形式與都市主題的關係，結合現代主義文學思潮分析作品所描繪的香港都市形象以及都市空間所激發的特殊語言形式與實驗手法。其次是從後殖民角度討論香港都市特質的價值和意義，以及與後殖民討論相關的本土身份認同問題，從都市主題的展演分析本土身份認同的建立與發展。其後本文就目前都市論述的側重提出幾點思考，嘗試反思都市文學與特定文學形式的聯繫，文學作品對都市的態度為何及應否作為其本土身份認同的表現，都市以外香港其他類型景觀的書寫，以及反思都市論述在時間和空間上的「限度」或者說「邊界」應該如何釐定，並展望在全球化的年代，當鄰近地區急速都市化，香港都市文學研究能夠怎樣推進下去。

This paper aims to review current researches on Hong Kong urban literature study. At least two significant aspects of it could be noticed. The first one is to study the form of urban literature with regards to the modernist aesthetic. The second one is to discuss the postcolonial value of Hong Kong urban space and culture and analyze the performance of cultural identity through urban motif. The paper then goes on to make several reflections on the study of Hong Kong urban literature. Firstly, it suggests rethinking the relationship of certain aesthetic approaches to the urban motif and opens up the study of non-modernist urban literature. It also reflects upon the reason why and how the depiction of urban landscapes and lives is seen as evidence of Hong Kong's cultural identity, which leads to the lack of study of other kinds of landscape in Hong Kong literature. Last but not least, it questions the temporal and spatial boundary of the discourse of urbanism. In the age of globalization and in light of the rapid growth of urbanization, in what ways could urbanism remains as an effective framework in the study of Hong Kong literature.
