Bibliometric Analysis of Music Therapy from 1989 to 2020

Active music therapy in Parkinson's disease: An integrative method for motor and emotional rehabilitation,而被引用次數最高之期刊則為Journal of Clinical Nursing。

Aims: A number of studies based on systematic review have been conducted on music therapy, but it is a comprehensive overview of its research is still lacking. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the development and trend of music therapy through the bibliometric analysis. Methods: This study was conducted from January 19, 2021 to January 31, 2021 by reviewing the Web of Science database of original articles published between 1989 and 2020, with the key words "music therapy," "music intervention" and "music-based intervention". Results: Of the 1,143 papers analyzed, the most frequently cited paper was by Pacchetti et al. published in 2000. The title of the article was "Active music therapy in Parkinson's disease: An integrative method for motor and emotional rehabilitation". The most frequently cited journal was Journal of Clinical Nursing. A visual analysis revealed that the main key words were anxiety, pain, dementia, and music perception. Regarding the collaboration between authors, those between medical institutions and universities were observed in addition to those between universities. Conclusion: This bibliometric study found that the research on music therapy had been gradually increased. Research units had also been expanded from single institution to collaboration between medical institutions and universities. Future research on music therapy can continue in the area of anxiety, pain, dementia, and music perception. It is hoped that evidence-based research in music therapy can enhance its application in health and disease.
