By reviewing the theme of Qu Yuan in Quan Yuan Sanqu (Detached Song of the Yuan Dynasty), this essay works to conduct the relative advanced analysis in three chapters. Chapter One features the delineation of Qu Yuan, a sanqu master, in which it cites the contents of Chapter Yu Fu, some giving positive recognition of Qu Yuan while the other ones standing in Yu Fu's stance to persuade Qu Yuan joining in their cesspool, thus apparently creating different recognition over Qu Yuan's image. Chapter Two gives account of the phenomenon about the association of theme of Qu Yuan with yin yi (reclusion), an important emotional appeal in qu (song) during the Yuan Dynasty. Despite with the fact of Qu Yuan's exile but seclusion, sanqu masters in the Yuan Dynasty associated Qu Yuan with yin yi, thus presenting the special situations and the turns of the men of letters have encountered in their life in the society of Yuan Dynasty. Finally in Chapter Three, the account puts the phenomenon of the theme of Qu Yuan on a par with Tao Yuanming and wine. In the respect of the association of Dragon Boat Festival with Qu Yuan, it is placed in the ”Appendix” following this essay for a reference due to its irrelevance with the theme.
