Lee Tsia-Oe is regarded as one of the foremost pioneers of early dance and dance art education in southern Taiwan. From 1949 to 1970, she participated in many Chinese folk dance contests where she mixed dance movement with gymnastics that later became a unique and creative style of gymnastics. She is now recognized for this art form as an extraordinary choreographer and educator of dance and gymnastics. The researcher studied dance in youthhood in Lee Tsia-Oe Ballet School under the tutelage of Ms. Lee and this made the researcher be a wonderful position to explore and record this artist's achievements. An in-depth interview was used to explore the environment of dance education in her time, how she combined the art of dance and gymnastics education, and how her legacy has extended to modern dance education in Taiwan. The researcher seeks to contribute to the literature related to the contributions of Ms. Lee to both dance and gymnastics education in Taiwan.
