Nurses account for about 50% of the total number of workforce in medical organizations in Taiwan and their significant role as front-line healthcare providers is irreplaceable. It is important to explore related issues at various dimensions when facing current nursing shortage and need for the patient-centered care model. This study used a questionnaire to collect 510 valid responses from nurses. The statistical analysis adopted the Structural Equation Model (SEM). This statistical method testing found that the overall fit of the model is in line with statistical testing, thus, this model can effectively explain the positive impact of social support on work engagement. The positive emotion has a partial mediating effect on work engagement. When the nurse has more positive emotions and less negative emotions, his/her work engagement will be higher. It is important that the management team to promote positive emotions at work environment.
