經驗主義創造產品設計的不二質性-以荷蘭楚格設計為案例分析

Empiricism Creates Unique Nature of Product Design: Analyzing Case from Droog Design of the Netherlands

摘要


本研究在此所提出產品設計的不二質性,指的是設計師同樣注重產品功能,然而依其經驗在產品設計過程中賦予「變數」的可能性。基於楚格設計的觀察,本研究整理出五種設計方法使產品設計更具有表述經驗的能力,並以楚格設計選品作為案例比較,分析其設計方法。無論其經驗是來自於設計師、消費者生活或文化上的共鳴,這些以經驗主義為基調的設計論述,產品自身存在的意義甚或是產品的質材都能隨著時間與空間的推演而不停的自然演化,進而在產品設計的外觀上賦予具有識別性的「差異特徵」,創造產品設計獨一無二的視覺記憶性,並且可以透過少量生產或訂製的生產行為,創造產品設計的「不二質性」。

The unique nature of product design brought up in the study refer to the condition when the designer attaches focus on the product function yet granting the possibility of "variables" during the course of product design. Based on the design and observation of Droog, five design methods have been compiled to make product design more capable of expressing experiences. Also, through comparison between Droog's design and collection, the study analyzed the design motive, regardless of motivations from the designer or the resonance of consumers' lives or culture. The design descriptions based on the empiricism, the meaning for the existence of products, or the materials of products may naturally evolve through time and space, in turn endowing "differences" that can be identified from appearances, creating the unique visual memory for the product design, and create the "unique nature" of the product design through small amount or customized production.
