華人父母教養期許形塑經驗與子女知覺期待之生涯因應

The Shaped Experiences of Chinese Parents' Expectations and the Ways Children Perceive and Cope with the Expectations

摘要


本研究探討華人父母教養期待之形塑經驗及其子女的生涯因應。研究參與者為4位大一新生子女以及3位父母。子女參與者中有女生3位,男生1位,平均年齡為18.3歲。父母參與者皆為男生,平均年齡為54.3歲。本研究透過半結構訪談進行資料蒐集,並以質性研究主題分析方法進行資料分析。結果發現:第一,父母傳遞子女教養觀的動機分別包括:複製經驗、預防犯錯以及填補遺憾,而傳遞教養觀的方式分別為耳提面命與耳濡目染兩類,而父母的教養觀內涵包含品格陶冶、投資學習以及工作需求三者。第二,子女生涯因應包括以下三類:(一)順己所欲:不受父母期許影響,追隨內心想法(二)兼顧期待:接納父母期許,同時追尋個人理想(三)優先順從:有個人興趣,但以父母期許為優先考量。研究最終提出「父母期許形塑經驗及子女生涯因應」架構圖,並針對華人文化家庭現象作進一步討論。

The purpose of this study is to explore the shaped experiences of Chinese parents' expectations and how the children perceive and cope with the expectations. The research has four children and three parents as participants. The research employs semi-structured interview technique to find out participants' views and experiences. And thematic analysis was the major method to identify and clarify the themes. The results are found in the following themes: (1) First, there are 3 types of motivations to deliver the viewpoint of parenting, including re-experiencing, preventing making mistakes and making up regrets. Secondly, the 2 ways which deliver parents' expectations to children are: direct-expressing and imperceptible-influencing. Third, there are three topics are involved in parenting contents: moral characters, studying and works. (2) The children cope with parents' expectations in 3 ways: following own heart, letting it slide, balancing different expectations and priority of obeying expectations. Finally, a framework of the experience of the parents' expectations shaped and coped with is proposed.
