從材質與技術反思工藝的藝術當代性

Reflections on the Artistry of Contemporary Craft from Material and Technique

摘要


本研究嘗試從材質與技術兩個面向來討論當代工藝的思辨文本。在這兩個軸線的基礎之下,本研究整理了二十世紀,特別是所謂的語言學轉向以來幾個相對重要的思想家,包含不同跨度的人文社會科學領域的論述生產中,對於材質與技術這兩個命題的討論。其中包含了海德格、阿多諾、巴舍拉、布希亞、傅柯、德勒茲等思想家的詮釋策略。雖然這些思想家的討論並非針對工藝主題而建立,然而本研究在將兩個命題獨立出來之後,則產生此一討論命題的自主性詮釋空間。為避免僅是由思辨詮釋文本進行過度它者單語的片面話語所形成的思維封閉現象。本研究於是加上了許多對於實際操作工藝的藝術家的訪談,以便對於此一研究主題進行論述與田野的相互辯證與相互修正。在這兩個面向觀點的交錯思辨之後,本研究提出了許多重要的創見,特別是將工藝家的技術視為一種身體技能與知識生產相互融合的一種「秉性」(dispositif),以及將工藝匠師的主體身體視為同時既是藝術家,同時是技術本身,卻也可以是創作的材料,同時是工具的載體,甚至是工具自身,卻又是被創作的作品。本文論述此種形而上與物質性互為主體的交融情境,並企圖將此一解釋性擴延至工藝之外的藝術領域。

This research tries to discuss the dialectic nature of the contemporary craft from the two perspectives of material and techniques. This article analyzes the works of certain relatively important theorists from different humanity and social science disciplines especially those who discussed the topics of material and techniques after the so called linguistic turn. This article discusses the interpretive strategy of the important thinkers such as Heidegger, Adorno, Bachelard, Baudrillard, Foucault and Deleuze. Although their works did not particularly focus on or structure around the topic of craft, the close examination of their ideas of materials and techniques generates a new interpretive space for discussion. To prevent the limitation of only thinking and interpreting from the written texts of these theorists, this article incorporates many interviews of craft artists. The intersection of both theories and praxis helps to clarify and analyze the concept of contemporary craft. After an inter-dialectic analysis, this article proposes many important and fresh perspectives. In particular, the craft artist's integration of both physical techniques and knowledge production is regarded as a "dispositif". And the subjective body of the craft artist is considered as the artist, the technique, the art material, the medium of tools, the tool or instrument, as well as the artwork being created through the body. This article articulates the craft artists' inter-subjective and dialogic fusion of metaphysically and materiality and tries to expand the interpretative framework beyond craft to include other art disciplines.
