Our bodies can be considered as a biotensegrity hierarchical structure by which mechanical forces applied to the whole organism can be transmitted into organs, tissues and even cells to produce changes in biochemistry signals and gene expression within individual living cells. Although Tai Chi became an emerging and prevalent research subject in exercise and health area, existing literature indicates that the evidence is insufficient to conclude the beneficial effect and mechanism of Tai Chi on health. For most of the researchers, Tai Chi is defined as a relaxing、slow、graceful exercise and it is suitable for elders; however, traditionally, The essentials of Tai Chi are based on the combination of pulling and torsion forces depicted as a silk reeling to lengthen connective tissues and gap bones in order to increase the stability, mobility, function and power of body by increasing the pretension of the structure. In this study, the theoretical foundation concerning the mechanism of benefit of Tai Chi will be demonstrated through the concepts of biotensegrity and mechanotrnasduction.
