Investigating the Communicative Competence of Bilingual Speakers

The aim of this paper is to discuss how bilingual speakers demonstrate their communicative competence in this bilingual or multilingual society. The phenomenon of code-switching emerges as an important characteristic of Bilingualism. Three parts are given consideration in this research. First, the different types of bilingualism are discussed. Second, types and functions of code-switching are considered, and finally, the problems and attitudes towards bilingual speakers will be also mentioned.
