The Application of Ionic Liquids for the Real Time Scanning Electron Microscopy Observation

摘要


離子液體由於具有低揮發性、高離子導電性和熱穩定性使其能夠應用在高真空的掃描式電子顯微鏡。目前將離子液體導入到掃描式電子顯微鏡中的應用可以分成兩部分,第一部分為將離子液體當作樣品的前處理試劑應用在非導體、含水以及生物材料中,用於取代傳統的濺鍍金屬層,此方法製備過程簡單、快速且對於含水和生物樣品能夠維持其原本之樣貌,幫助這些樣品在掃描式電子顯微鏡中有更好的成像。第二部分則是將離子液體作為電化學反應的電解液並以掃描式電子顯微鏡觀測其臨場反應,此技術分別可以觀察到鋰離子電池充放電過程對於矽陽極形貌的影響和電沉積金屬/合金材料的成長/溶解過程。

The extremely low vapor pressure, high conductivity, and good thermal stability of ionic liquids (ILs) lead the ionic liquid to work under high vacuum facilities like scanning electron microscopy. The application of ILs for SEM observation can be divided into the following: (1) as pre-treatment reagents to replace the traditional lengthy preparation methods, and (2) as media for electrochemical reactions under vacuum conditions for SEM real-time observation. This method makes the sample vacuum tolerant, electrically conductive, and allowing for a more typical, hydrated state of the material. Moreover, the in-situ studies allowing a deepen understanding of time and morphologies change during the reaction.
