A Trustworthy Text? An Assessment of NA 28

The 28th edition of Nestle-Aland Novum Testamentum Graece (NA 28) was published in 2012, and there are minor changes of this version from the previous version (NA 27) in the Catholic epistles. Despite many cases with "zero" support, the committee has adopted the Coherence-Based Genealogical Method (CBGM) in NA 27. In the new version NA 28, this method is also employed and plays a central role for textual decisions. This paper attempts to analyze all changes in NA 28 which are different from those in NA 27, and further to provide possible reasons for the changes, external or internal evidence, or on the basis of CBGM. Finally, this paper will indicate both strengths and weaknesses in NA 28 in terms of these textual notes to argue that there may still be many problems which need to be solved in NA 28.
