How should the "history" and "past" of a cultural heritage site be presented amid the trend of technology advancements? How can technologies be applied to convert the visitor experience into meaningful edutainment? Does digital communication simply enhance the performative qualities of a cultural heritage site? Or, does it transcend its supportive function in the narrative of a cultural heritage site to take on a more reciprocal role and facilitate the formation of a new type of visitor experience? The aim of this paper is to answer these questions by focusing on the integration of physical and virtual presentation at Château de Chambord in France. How identity is shaped and how architectural history is narrated through on-site and digital reconstruction are explored. In addition, issues such as content authenticity, diversity, and interpretation, as well as the visitor experience, are addressed through literature review, on-site survey, online data collection, and written interviews.
