Humanistic Buddhism contains many rich ideas of democracy and freedom. This paper aims to explore these ideas present in Venerable Master Hsing Yun's Humanistic Buddhism. From Master Taixu to Venerable Master Hsing Yun, Humanistic Buddhism has always unswervingly carried forth the ideas, upheld the spirit, and also engaged in the cause of democracy and freedom, marking it a core ideology. Humanistic Buddhism is the democracy and freedom of Buddhism. On one hand, it protects society, particularly in terms of democracy and freedom of the political world, because everything that is against democracy and freedom of religion and political forces are clearly distinctive. On another hand, ultimately maintaining the final goal of Buddhism, that is, to transcend the world's mundane affairs through guiding and purifying society, Humanistic Buddhism has used Buddhist ways and modern approaches to contribute to democracy and freedom for the Chinese people as well as to all beings.
