摘要

當代人間佛教最重要的實踐家星雲大師，一直以來以各種善巧方便構建人間佛教的現代實踐模式。星雲大師積極推動佛教人間化、生活化、大眾化、現代化、國際化，讓佛教的慈悲與智慧，透過文學、藝術、音樂、教育等方式，成為人類心靈的加油站，並讓中華文化的精神內涵在世界各地發光發熱。星雲大師在弘法方面的成就，正是基於他以藝文作佛事的宗旨而推行的。本文擬從《星雲日記》入手，著力對星雲大師的藝術思想進行梳理歸納，試圖從《星雲日記》中探析大師關於藝術於佛教、藝術於生活、藝術於教育的一些看法和思考，進而探討佛光山佛教藝術的開展及其人間佛教的弘化。

This paper discusses how Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the most important practitioner of contemporary Humanistic Buddhism, has used a variety of skillful means to formulate a model for modern practitioners of Humanistic Buddhism. Venerable Master Hsing Yun has been energetically urging Buddhism to be more humanistic, relevant to daily life and the community, modernizing, and with international reach. Through literature, arts, music, and education, he envisions that the compassion and wisdom of Buddhism can become a spiritual filling station for mankind. At the same time, he has allowed for the spiritual content of Chinese culture to spread throughout the world. This has been accomplished through Venerable Master Hsing Yun's promotion of the arts and literature. This paper, taking Hsing Yun's Diaries as its primary source, is based upon Venerable Master Hsing Yun's thoughts on the arts, Buddhism, life, and education. It further probes the development of Buddhist arts at Fo Guang Shan and their role in the propagation of Humanistic Buddhism.
