This paper explores Venerable Master Hsing Yun's view of Christianity on the basis of Humanistic Buddhism. He espouses that the foundational tenets of Christianity include 〞respect and tolerance〞 and 〞religious harmony.〞 Furthermore, he writes that Christians share basic principles with Buddhists, such as the value of righteousness, faith in the 〞truth〞 of their religion, and a belief in the ability to enter a blissful heaven, similar to the heavenly realms of Buddhism. In addition, Buddhism and Christianity share similarities in their historical development. This paper will also highlight similarities and differences between the two religions observed by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, as well as some of his critiques of Christianity.
