A Research of Pastor's Pressure, Burnout, and Self-Care in End-of-life Care: Taking Pastors of Presbyterian Church in Taiwan for Example

The purpose of this study was to explore the pressure, burnout and self-care of pastors in ministry of end-of-life care. The researcher utilized Qualitative Research Method, invited 8 pastors for in-depth interviews, and interpreted the information got in the interviews to explore the pressures the pastors encountered in the ministry of end-of-life care. Furthermore, the researcher explored whether the pressures cause the burnout of the pastors. Besides, the researcher explored the self-care action the pastors take in the ministry of end-of-life care and grief counseling. The finding points out: 1.There are many kinds of pressure in the ministry of life-and-death care ministry. 2.Though there are pressures in the ministry of life-and-death care, the pressures did not cause the pastors' burnout, because the ministry is full of meaning.3.The pastors' carelessness of their own grief in the ministry of life-and-death care may cause their emotional burnout. 4.The pastors' self-care in the ministry of life-and-death care is insufficient.
