The research studies the optimization of scheduling and charging of electric buses- using discrete-event simulation. It considers major factors in the operation of electric buses, including capacity of battery, power efficiency, charging efficiency, cost of buses, batteries, and chargers, safety level of electricity, and electricity price. Given the bus and charger type, the discrete-event simulation model of electric bus charging and scheduling calculates the required numbers of buses and chargers and the dispatching and charging plans of each bus. Through the simulation optimization approach, the combination of bus and charger types with the minimum total cost can be found. Finally, the research will conduct a sensitivity analysis to understand the change of result.
