The purpose of this paper is to identify and examine inward foreign direct investments (FDI) in the four economies in the Greater China region, Mainland China (P.R.C.), SAR Hong Kong, SAR Macao and Taiwan (R.O.C.). The paper starts with a qualitative section discussing FDI theories categorized in macroeconomic and microeconomic approaches. Continued by quantitative analysis of FDI in Greater China and each economy independently. The investigation includes the growth of FDI, FDI originating countries and industries receiving FDI. Lastly, this paper combines the theory proposed in earlier sections with the data gathered in the quantitative part of the paper classifying important advantages of Greater China and each economy within attracting FDI. These advantages also lead to development of key strategies that can help attract further FDI in the future.
