The allylation reaction of aldehyde or ketone with allyl metal reagent is an important tool for preparation of homoallylic alcohol in organic synthesis. The homoallylic alcohols are synthetic precursors for synthesis of some natural products and pharmaceutical compounds such as δ-lactone and macrolide. Our laboratory reported a successful allylation racetion by using natural L-(+)-tartaric acid as catalyst for allylboration of aldehydes which produced homoallylic alcohol with high yield. Moreover, the yield of product was increased by introducing a mixed solvent system.
