To help our world become “Green”, people have started to make use of used cardboard, not only as boxes for storage, but also as furniture. Cardboard furniture is becoming very popular in the field of furniture and interior design. The furniture made of cardboard might present a weak and flimsy image, but when designed properly it can be as sturdy as wooden furniture. Moreover, it can be designed to DIY furniture and showing off the users creativity. The design can be simple or complicated, depending on the user’s needs. Thus, cardboard furniture is preferred by younger consumers, such as students, who move around and prefer lightweight, inexpensive and recyclable cardboard furniture. Therefore, a proposed furniture of specific characteristic that meets the distribution of an adaptable environment to the constant changes in the life plan of the students who travel/move to other places to study, based on the use, multi-functionality and mobility of the furniture. So we can conduct the final result of “Play2Build” by creating, designing and assembling our design, to be able to relate directly with how useful cardboard furniture can be, by using the Social (S), Economic (E) and Technological (T) factors to find new trends that lead to Product Opportunity Gaps (POG) and new market segments. To explaining the forces that generate opportunities for new product development, the gap between what is currently on the market and the possibility for new or significantly improved products that result from emerging trends.
