Teachers in elementary school usually use an easy way to teach solid geometry. Although there are sufficient resources of physical teaching aids, students usually cannot manipulate these models in a careful way due to the lack of time. Moreover, both the teaching and the test often represent teaching materials through two-dimensional style in the course, causing students low in spatial conception cannot understand or even refuse to learn in class. Therefore, unlike traditional geometry education software whose operation interface still let students view and control flat shapes on the computer screen via two-dimensional actions, this study tries to build an interactive teaching system based on augmented reality according to elementary geometry education. This study use the depth camera with the robust capability of body tracking to provide an intuitive control method based on natural body action such that students in class can interact with the virtual object by their bodies. Moreover, this simple and interesting human computer interaction can bring the interest in the learning and then let students get the real-time feedback during the operation process. The system is divided into editor and player materials, respectively. The teacher can quickly create the geometry model without learning too many skills by using the editor. Students can interact with the object produced by the editor and raise spatial conception of solid geometry through the teacher’s guidance during this learning process.
