There are many sports and fitness equipment on the market that only have simple dashboard to provide users with adjustment of sports parameters. However, no visual guidance and auditory prompts on the equipment could help users to train sports coordination. At present, most of the literature related to sports and fitness equipment focus on the discussion of strengthening exercises of the body limbs, but there is no relevant discussion for visual guidance and auditory cues. This study aimed to explore the effects of visual guidance and auditory cues for low-intensity resistance training machines on users’ performance and physiological indicators. There are 40 subjects in this study, including 20 young people (10 males and females each), and 20 middle-aged and elderly (10 males and females each). Four different low-intensity resistance training machines were used to collect the subjects’ electromyogram (EMG), the built-in performance indicators of the training machine, and the personal preferences among experimental scenrios in the study. The results showed that the presence or absence of visual guidance had a significant difference for coordinated movement, and the presence of visual guidance could help subjects to improve muscle coordination. Regarding scapula training machine and hip training machine, the muscular load reductions for the middle-aged and elderly between with and without visual guidance scenrios were greater than those of young subjects, while the muscular reductions for the middle-aged and elderly decreased compared to the young subjects for core and whole-body training machines. The presence of voice feedback could significantly affect the accuracy of the range of motion for both subject groups. Young people demonstrated better control ability than the middle-aged and elderly under either presence or absence of voice feedback scenrios. The subjects in two tested groups all ranked the highest preference in scenrios with visual guidance and auditory prompts.
