臺灣新生代女性藝術的創作再現與蘊意

The Creative Representation and its Implication of New Generation of Women's Art in Taiwan

摘要


臺灣於1990年代中、後期,在「性別主流化」(Gender mainstreaming)價值的理念中,當代「女性藝術」已蔚為風潮,並爭取了男/女平權的創作環境。因此,本研究以臺灣新生代女性藝術創作者、作品為研究對象,以詮釋她們的創作風格、文化意涵。研究以深度訪談為取徑,發現新生代女性藝術創作以數位科技多元媒材為主,並仿如是當代藝術思潮脈動的翻版,展現了與臺灣70年、80年女性創作者迥然不同之創作風貌。研究發現,其一,新生代女性藝術對於「性別」乃採取一種流動、跨性別的認同方式,在創作中提出一種「酷兒化」的文化想像,構築一個酷兒的時間及空間,以作為性別流動的替代出口。其二,融入當代藝術思潮「關係美學」的內涵,她們的作品藉由重溯過往歷史敘事,或是觀照自我心靈之方式,連結觀者之間關係,展現了獨特的風格。其三,面對新/舊、現代/傳統交迭,她們以一種「交陪」美學形式,試著讓傳統民俗技藝、歷史故事與當代藝術語境進行對話,以召喚、填補/反轉觀者的記憶。其四,新生代女性藝術以一種個人多元角色式的方式創作,她們同時兼互創作者、策展人、表演者及田野觀察者的角色交疊。其五,她們展現微感性的美學,藉由自己生命傷痛、晦暗的經驗作為題材,以對社會、生命甚至難忘記憶作一反思、釋放,展現了個人感性的抒發、喃喃自語。

This research is an attempt to study the new generation of Taiwanese female artists. In the mid and late 1990s, the concept of "Gender mainstreaming" values has become a trend in Taiwan, and Taiwanese female artists have fought for gender equal rights. Therefore, this study focuses on the new generation of female artists in Taiwan, interpreting their style and cultural connotation. Based on in-depth interviews, the research found that the new generation of female artists primarily utilize digital technology and multiple media, simulating the sense and sensibility of contemporary art. They create a style that is very different from that of the previous generation female artists. The research found that firstly, the new generation of female art demonstrates a "queer" cultural imagination in creation, constructing a transgender time and space. Secondly the new generation female artists integrate the contemporary artistic trend of "Relational Aesthetics". Their works connect with the audience by tracing back to historical narratives, or by contemplating the way of self-realization, showing a unique style. Thirdly, they use a form of "accompaniment" aesthetics, trying to initiate interactions among traditional folklore skills, historical stories and contemporary art context. In so doing they summon, fill, and reverse the memories the audience. Fourthly, the new generation of female artists work in a personal way, taking on the roles of creator, curator, performer and field observer simultaneously. Finally, they adapt a kind of intimate sharing aesthetics. Taking as the subject matter their painful and obscure lived experiences, they reflect upon the society, life and even unforgettable memories, showing their intimate mutterings of personal sensibility.
