Ink painting, distinctive in its techniques and forms, symbolizes the spirit of traditional Chinese art. With ink and brush, artists play with the skills of Ts'un and coloring so as to give expressions of their feelings in the landscapes of their paintings. The use of paper and silk and the interplay of poetry, calligraphy and painting instill into ink painting a unique oriental aesthetic sentiment. On the whole, through an adaptation of traditional Chinese painting with computer animation and the presentation of Chinese painting skill called ”Ts'un,” ”Castle Beyond a Mountain” instills the concept of time and space into animation techniques, infusing moving effects into two dimensional visual experience of painting. Hence, the creation work presents a virtual world in which the space of water and ink mingles with the imaginary world. In an innovative sense of creative vision, the work reinterprets the visual experience of traditional Chinese painting and represents traditional images with modern significance.
