Returning to Work Following Cancer: Cancer Survivors' Daily Life and Challenges

Manual labor, reluctance of career stagnation and dependence are their daily sources of stress. Secondly, apart from supportive policies, the existing quality of mutual understanding and respect in a workplace relationship affects cancer survivors' will to remain in the workforce. Thirdly, the benefits of returning to work and staying in work include provide rehabilitation resources in physical function and interpersonal relationship. This helps cancer survivors adapt to the normality of everyday life, and co-exist with their recovering body. Bearing in mind the positive effects and challenges in returning to work, clinical staff must work closely to meet the needs and lifestyle of cancer survivors. In designing relevant services, they should offer interdisciplinary case management services which focus on helping cancer survivors to return to work.
