健身社會學之芻議—以臺灣健身俱樂部的發展進程為例

A Preliminary Study of the Sociology of Fitness: The Development of Fitness Clubs in Taiwan

摘要


健身產業在臺灣已是一個發展超過40年的運動社會結構,這個產業的知識背景都由生理學、心理學、生物力學、行銷與管理學所建構而成。而其中所發生的各種社會現象,似乎尚未受到運動社會學研究者的注意。本文嘗試從形構社會學的觀點出發,並援引國外與健身相關的社會學概念,從而瞭解臺灣健身俱樂部的進程,以及面臨之挑戰。經相關文獻的爬梳,發現健身俱樂部隨著臺灣社會與文化的變遷,使得臺灣健身場域持續地演變。從早期強調身體強健武勇,到臺灣經濟起飛後,追求休閒以及女性自主運動概念的興起,接續著全民運動意識的抬頭。據此,可區分出3個發展浪潮,依序是:1950年到1980年的傳統健身院、1980年到2010年的大型連鎖健身俱樂部,以及2010年至今連鎖化、平價化與社區化的健身俱樂部。從上述研究結果,更綜整出臺灣健身運動,當前的6個重要社會學研究議題,分別是健身消費市場的轉型與變遷、健身運動的知識與權力、健身商業化後的衝突、女性對健身運動之影響、健身運動的休閒與專業化之關係、以及其他之議題。希冀能做為後續研究發展之參考,更期待未來形成下一個運動社會學的新興研究領域。

The fitness industry in Taiwan has developed for more than 40 years and has formed a social structure by Physiology, Psychology, Biomechanics, Marketing and Management in Taiwanese. However, it seems that the social phenomenon induced by this structure has never been studied by researchers in the sociology of sport. This study adopting a figurational sociological approach and foreign fitness of Sociology to looks at the development of fitness clubs in Taiwan and the challenges they face by. The conclusion shows fitness clubs continue to evolve the fitness field in Taiwan with the changes in Taiwanese society and culture. From the early emphasis on physical fitness and bravery to the pursuit of leisure, and women's autonomous movement after the Taiwan Economic Miracle, continued to rise in the consciousness of sport for all. According to the developments, three development waves can be distinguished: the traditional gym from 1950 to 1980, the large and chain club from 1980 to 2010, and gym and fitness club of chaining, parity and community. The conclusion shows the five sociological research topics: The transformation and changes of Fitness consumer market, knowledge and power of the fitness, the conflicts after fitness commercialization, women's influence on fitness, the relationship between leisure and specialization of fitness and other issues. Those topics could be a guideline of the emerging studies of sports of sociology.
