多元印刷組合階調擴增值百分比之實驗研究

An Experimental Study of Tone Value Increase Ratios on Various Printing Combinations

摘要


四色版(K、C、M、Y)之階調擴增值百分比(TVI Ratios)趨為一個常數,提出此理論的學者Stanton和Hutton,於1999年之研究報告”An Analysis of Sheetfed Lithographic Print Attributes”中並沒有在多種製程或多種材料下進行實驗,因此本研究採用真實驗研究設計(True Experimental Designs),旨在運用各種印刷製程(傳統平版、複合式平版、傳統柔版、複合式柔版、無水平版、網版、數位印刷)印刷於各類被印材(塗布紙、非塗布紙、塑膠薄膜、PP合成紙、綠背紙、帆布、光碟)上,以求出K、C、M、Y四色版階調擴增值百分比,並分析其間是否有差異。而實驗結果為各印刷製程印製各種被印材料之K、C、M、Y四色版階調擴增值百分比,並分析其間是有顯著差異。但在觀察之下發現在同印刷製程於不同被印材料之階調擴增值百分比有趨於一常數之現象,如數位印刷K版印製PVC(1.3127)、GB(1.3020)、PP(1.3307)、帆布(1.3353)之50:75階調擴增值百分比有趨於一個常數,而不同印刷製程印製於同樣之被印材料之TVI ratios也有趨於一常數之現象,如傳統平版(1.2490)與複合式平版(1.2940)印製塗布紙之K版50:25階調擴增值百分比有相近,因此合理推斷在跨版式同材料、跨材料同版式之情況各版式之50:25及50:75 TVI ratios有趨於常數之現象,建議後續研究探討在同樣的印刷製程於不同的印刷材料上是否有差異,及探討在不同的印刷製程於相同的印刷材料上之TVI ratios是否有差異,並進一步分析與滿版濃度、印刷對比有無相關性,進而提出可能之關係式或預測模式以提供印刷業界作為品質管制之參考依據。

The technology has tremendous improvements in recent years. Technology improvements enable printers to reproduce high quality printed products in the printing industry. However, inconsistent printing quality has been a big challenge for the printers in Taiwan to expand the market oversea. Consistent printing process is the key to improve the printing quality. If the issues can be solved before the production, it will reduce unnecessary waste and cost. It also will help the printers understand where the problems are and improve the process control procedure. The Tone Value Increase (TVI) Ratios of four process colors seems to be a constant number, according to literatures. The TVI Ratios in this study means the ratios of TVI of 50% divided by TVI of 75% and TVI of 50% divided by TVI 25%. In order to meet this condition, the printing process has to be consistent. Therefore, the TVI Ratios can be used as a factor to evaluate the consistency of the printing process. The TVI Ratios was first introduced by Anthony Stanton and Phillip Hutton in 1999 at GATF (Graphic Arts Technical Foundation). In their research: The Sheetfed Lithographic Print Attribute Study, they only tested in sheetfed lithographic printing process and on one type of substrate. This research will conduct a true experimental design to exam if TVI Ratios of four process colors will still be a constant number using different printing processes and on various substrates. This proposed research is to define the target value and the tolerance of the TVI Ratios using different printing processes (conventional offset lithography, hybrid offset lithography, and waterless lithography, conventional flexography, hybrid flexography, screen printing, and digital printing) on various substrates (coated paper, uncoated paper, PVC, PP synthetic Paper, greenback paper, and CD). The best combination of the printing process and the substrate that results in a constant TVI Ratios will then be found. As a result, Specifications of the TVI Ratios will then be established to obtain a consistent printing process and help printers in Taiwan expand their markets oversea.
