English Abstract

Objective: To study the clinical significance of carcinoma associated antigen (CAl25, CAl53, CAl99) and human chorionic gonadotropin (β-HCG) in evaluation of disease extent and monitoring metastasis and recurrence of breast cancer. Methods: These tumor markers in serum were measured in 84 patients with breast cancers, and change of the markers were observed in these patients with different stage and pathohistological evidence. Results: The later the stage of TNM of breast cancer, the higher levels of 4 tumor markers would he revealed. There was no significant difference in the levels of 4 tumor markers for patients with different pathohistological evidence. Combination of these tumor markers increased sensitivity of measurement. Conclusions: Measurement of CAl25, CAl53, CAl99 and β-HCG in serum provided useful information for evaluation of disease extent in patients with breast cancer.
