The purpose of this article is to describe the need of long-term care, and the service of related professional manpower. This article also investigates the education and training program of manpower in long-term care. The allocation strategy of manpower in long-term care is significantly affected by governmental policy of health and long-term care. For setting up a reasonable national long-term care system, the policy maker should make the following questions clear. Whether long-term care of disability is the duty of family or government, the proportion of institutional or community-base long-term services, the definition of beneficiary, the financial source from tax or insurance, and the integration of related professional manpower. All these factors will influence the manpower of long-term care. How to encourage the professional manpower hooked on the long-term care is also an important issue.
