Mosquitoes pose the greatest threat to public health because of their ability to act as the vectors of causative agents for diseases such as dengue fever, malaria and yellow fever etc. It is imperative to control mosquito vector population in order to keep off the spread of these diseases. The purpose of this review paper is to introduce some recent studies about the larvicidal, repellent and growth-inhibiting activity of plant extractives against mosquitoes and the plant extractives which possess the same effect as pheromone that can attract female mosquitoes. Exploration of more effective natural extractives from specific plants used as natural insecticidal agents for mosquito control are worthy of further investigation.
