Chinese Abstract

Objective: To provide some groundwork for the estimation of the ligation of vas deferens as a contraceptive method. Methods: We established the animal models by 40 sexually mature Wistar rats [5 (control group)+5 (surgery group)]×4, and measured their serum testosterone (ST) levels. We observed the histological changes of their testis and epididymis following the vasectomies in 1, 2, 3, 4, months respectively. Results: No significant difference was found among the compared groups in all experimental intervals; most of all the vasectomized rats showed none-infected inflammation both in their testis and epididymis-the seminiferous tubules deteriorated and the ductus epididym is dilated; but no anticipated sperm granuloma was found. Conclusion; The ligation of vas deferens can lead to some influnce in the vasectomized animals during a short time limit, and its distinct long-term effects need furthermore study.
