English Abstract

Objective: To study the clinicopathologic and immunohistochemical characteristics of cystic and solid tumors of the pancreas (CSTP). Methods; 4 cases of CSTP were studied by histologic HE and immunohistochemistry (S-P method). Results: There were 3 female and 1 male patients aged from 25 to 56 (mean age 38) without recurrence after tumor resection. The tumors were larger in size (mean diameter 6.25cm). All encapsulated, and solid alternately with cystic. Histologically, Psudopapillary structure with a fibrovascular core was remarkable. They were uniformed population of cells, the nuclear was oval, round without atypia, and rate mitotic figures. Immunohistochemically, the tumors were positive for AACT (4 cases), AAT (3 cases), NSE (3 cases), Vimentin (2 cases), PR (2 cases), Keratin (1 case), but negative for Des, ER, S-100 and synaptophysin in all the cases. Conclusion: CSTP is a clinicopathologic entity in young female patients with a benign clinical course. It is a tumor of uncertain malignant potential (borderline).
