In this study, we used 40 extracted human anterior teeth, none of which had any visible abnormalities. These teeth were subjected to adequate Schilderian endodontic processes, including cleaning, shaping and 3-dimensional obturation of the root canal system. After this procedure, 3 different investigatory methods, conventional radiograph, radiovisiography (RVG), and transparence were extraorally administrated. Imagines were taken from the labial, lingual, mesial, and distal aspects of each root on the coronal third, middle third, and apical third, respectively. The obturated lateral (or accessory) root canals prepared using the same Schilderian technique were assessed. The results showed that using the transparency method to find the obturated lateral canals only located 18.2% (p<0.001) of them; and 30.7% (p<0.001) of the obturated lateral canals were located, most of which appeared on the apical third. Also, based on this study, fewer than 50% of the obturated lateral canals were detected by digital x-ray images, however, conventional films found only 34% of them.
