The purpose of the study was to investigate the alternative frameworks on human circulatory system conceptions which were held by the eighth grade of student. At first, a semi-open-ended paper-and-pencil test was given to 432 students. Students' responses were classified is order to find out the popular alternative conceptions. Forty representative students samples were chosen to interview. The data were analyzed from both paper-and-pencil test and individual interview which showing various kinds of students' explanations. These conclusion were subsequently combined into several categories, each category representing an alternative conception held by a number of students. The common origins or beliefs were developed from the alternative conceptions. Several important alternative frameworks were shown: 1.The red blood cell or hemoglobin worked as the main role of human transport function. 2.The white blood cell served as the center of human protective system. 3.To judge the vessel elasticity from the thickness and diameter of vessels. 4.The direction of blood streaming haven't any specific rules, and was not restricted by circulatory structure (e.g. valve). 5.By the vessel types to determine whether they contain fresh blood or not, and then to infer the framework of circulatorysystem conception.
