Schwannoma is a benign, encapsulated, slow-growing tumor. Approximately 25% to 45% of schwannoma occur in the head and neck area. The most common site is the parapharyngeal space. Oropharyngeal schwannomas are extremely rare. We report a 58-year-old male patient with a schwannoma of the oropharynx, who had suffered from foreign body sensation in throat and mild swallowing problem for about 6 months. The tumor was excised completely via the transoral approach without complication. Therer was no recurrence found after 1 year of follow-up. To our knowledge, only sporadic cases of the oropharyngeal schwannoma have been reported.
