黃肢散白蟻及小象白蟻分解木材速率之研究

摘要


本研究探討樹種、木材含水量、族群兵蟻比例對黃肢散白蟻(Reticulitermes flaviceps (Oshima))與小象白蟻山蟻(Nasutitermes parvonasutus (Shiraki))分解木材速率之影響。整體而言,黃肢散白蟻的分解能力高於小象白蟻。兩種白蟻皆對硬度低之木材有較高的分解速率;在不同的木材含水量下,黃肢散白蟻的分解木材速率不受影響,而小象白蟻則對含水量50±5%之木材有最高的分解木材速率;兩種白蟻皆會受兵蟻比例的變化影響其分解木材速率與死亡率。

Effects of wood species, wood moisture contents, and soldier proportions on the decomposition rates of Reticulitermes flaviceps (Oshima) and Nasutitermes parvonasutus (Shiraki) were studied. Decomposition ability of wood by R. flaviceps was greater than that by N. parvonasutus. Both termites consumed a greater mass of softer wood species than harder ones. The decomposition rate of wood by R. flaviceps was not influenced by the water content in wood; however, N. parvonasutus decomposed more wood mass with a 50±5% water content. Soldier proportions in a termite colony affected the mortality of termites and the decomposition rate of the wood.
