性別課程的回顧與前瞻

Review and Prospect of Gender Curriculum

摘要


許多有關性別課程的研究文獻,多援引聯合國之世界人權宣言、我國憲法、九年一貫課程六大議題或各級學校兩性平等教育實施要點、性別平等教育法通過等事件與文件,說明性別教育的推動面貌與立論依據。在教學活動中所應著力的,是引導學生對性別平等教育擁有適宜的認知,能與日常生活相關經驗結合,以破除性別歧視、偏見與刻板印象,達到真正的性別平等課程目標。只是,相關研究亦指出,其實性別課程甚少明列於學校教育目標之中,而且即使課程改革推動數年後,在教學內容及性別意識型態之展現,仍有很大的改善空間,箇中緣由,耐人尋味。教育是促進性別平等的有效途徑與方法,而課程的批判與改革更是各方關注所在。國內之相關研究,從教科書內容的性別偏見與意識型態批判、從特定學科到全面檢視,擴及到性別平等的課程及活動設計,一時間似乎性別課程成為教育研究顯學之一。識者謂,將課程視為一種性別文本來進行探討時,不應忽略國內學術圈移植西方思考觀點的現象。具體言之,本文探討的範圍包括性別課程的內涵、意義,從歷史的角度,分析其在不同脈絡中所彰顯的社會意義、學術主張,瞭解性別與課程二者之間的互動關係。作者依照性別課程在不同時期所反應出來的時代意義,透過不同人物的立論與主張,探索性別課程議題在演進遞嬗下的變與不變。

Pedagogical content of gender education changed tremendously as times went by. Its content and nature certainly will be influenced by geographical, social, cultural and political situations. Previous researches have been focusing on the analysis of textbooks, teaching materials, gender socialization, and feminist theories. Critics mainly argue that the inequalities existed within schooling might reproduce and reify the social ones. This paper begins with a general introduction about the gender education, how academic communities interpret concepts of gender curriculum and strategies for implementing curriculum designs. By ways of examining the hidden assumptions of gender roles, biases, stereotypes, and cultural heritages, the authors wish to connect theory and practice through this historical analysis. It is inappropriate to underestimate the long-standing beliefs and values of patriarchal system. By emphasizing the relationship between gender and curriculum, the authors urge both researchers and practitioners to work with historical perspectives so as to grasp the nature of gender curriculum.
