Because of the remarkable developments and applications of information technology, information flow can be seen as another term of traffic flow. It may also influence the location arrangement of urban activities. This paper explores the impacts of information technology applications on transportation and urban activities. Herein, information flow may influence the travel demand for passengers and freight, and moreover resulting in the effects of substitution, complementarity or enhancement for transportation. In the long-term aspect, it also impacts the distribution of industry activities and the pattern of urban landuse development.
