Chinese Abstract |
Background and Purpose: Kinesio tape is an elastic tape and is currently being used during the rehabilitation. However, few research has been done examining the effects. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of kinesio taping on dynamic balance in individuals with ankle sprain. Methods: Twenty-four individuals who can stand on the injuried leg for 30 seconds with a first- or second-degree lateral ankle sprain were included. Subjects were tested by the Biodex Balance System in the limit-of-stability mode before and after receiving kinesia taping. Results: Significantly difference in the overall limit-of-stability scores were found between non-tape and tape. After taping, the overall limit-of-stability scores increased (p<0.05). Conclusion: Kinesio taping can immediately improve the dynamic balance ability in individuals with ankle sprain. |
