Effects of Orthodontic Force on MEK in Rat Pulpal Tissue

Objective: To study the effects of orthodontic force on MEK in rat pulpal tissue. Methods: 1) The contents of MEK was measured after supplying orthodontic force of 100g, 200g, 300g to incisor of rat respectively for 24h. 2) The contents of MEK was measured at the end of 1h, 6h, 24h and 72h after supplying orthodontic force of 100g to incisor of rat. Results: 1) MEK concentrations decreased significantly caused by orthodontic force in the experimental teeth compared with controls, and had a statistically significant inverse correlation to the amount of applied force. 2) The contents of MEK decreased significantly at the coil of 24h, 48h, and returned to nomal at 72h after the orthodontic force was supplied. Conclusion: Orthodontic force mobilizes neuropeptidergie pathway in the rat tooth pulp.
