現代城市公共藝術中美及美學的位置

The Position of Beauty & Aesthetics in Modern Public Art

摘要


近年來,環境和景觀美學的勃興,使城市公共藝術連帶成為美學界關注的焦點問題。但相關理論準備的匱乏,卻使如何定位這種新藝術形式面臨巨大困難。本文認為,現代城市作為人群高度聚集的生活群落,它的出現是人群體性欲求的物化形態。建立在這種欲求基礎上的公共性代表了城市精神的本質。但是,藝術和美就其本性而言,是抗拒公共性的。審美創造和鑒賞的個體性,決定了藝術進入公共視野,必然要面臨與公眾審美趣味的妥協和藝術價值的磨損。同時,現代社會日常生活審美化的趨勢,使城市本身日益成為作品。城市與藝術的同質性,增加了公共藝術的多餘性。在此背景下,城市公共藝術既呼應著城市的藝術化,也必終結於城市的藝術化。公共藝術也必然會躍出傳統美學的理論邊界,從藝術品過渡為一般文化產品。

In recent years, the emergence of environmental and landscape aesthetics makes the public art as the hotspot issues. But the absence of relevant theories make it very difficult on how to give a theoretical position to this kind of new art. In this paper I want to argue that: in term of the nature, beauty and art refuse publicity, the individuality of aesthetic creation and appreciation means it have to make a compromise with the public interests when it enters public vision, and thereby its artistic value decreases. In the meantime, the tendency of the aestheticization of everyday life in modern society, makes the city itself become an art work, and so makes the art redundantly. In this view, public art in modern city echoes the artistic trend, as well as it will be ended lastly in artistic city. This is, the city as art work and the public art itself will get a new appellation in common: cultural work, and the aesthetics as art philosophy will become cultural philosophy, too.
