This paper discusses the causes of excessive body fluid volume in hemodialysis patients, effects on patients, nursing assessment, and proper nursing interventions. One of the main problems among hemodialysis patients is excessive body fluid volume. Accurate assessment and monitoring of fluid balance is critical in the care of patients with renal dysfunction. Nurses play an important role in helping patients to comply with fluid restrictions, fluid management and in prevention of related complications. The goals are to enable nurses to help patients to adapt this fluid restrictions life style and to promote their quality of life.
