苗栗縣南庄鄉觀光休閒產業發展分析：從“蕃地”到“咖啡之鄉”的時空歷程

摘要

近年來，觀光休閒產業已成為許多傳統產業衰退的鄉村與邊陲地區，促進地方發展的一個新方向。透過發展觀光休閒產業來創造新的就業機會與提昇生活水準。苗栗縣南庄鄉在19世紀末與20世紀初期還是一片荒野，近年來，以「咖啡之鄉」成為中北部休閒旅遊地圖上一個顯著的景點。本研究以文獻分析、地圖分析、田野實查、參與觀察與深度訪談等方法，探討苗栗縣南庄鄉觀光休閒產業發展的時空歷程。
研究發現，南庄鄉觀光休閒產業的發展有其特殊的時空因素；其次，透過發展觀光休閒產業不僅創造就業機會、提昇生活水準同時也保存了地方文化與環境生態；最後，目前南庄的觀光休閒產業還在成長的階段，未來的發展方向還有待觀察，但結合地方文化與生態保育的文化旅遊發展方向，將是未來南庄鄉觀光休閒產業永續發展可以思考的方向。

Recently, tourism already becomes a new development tool for rural and remote areas with declining industries. It creates more jobs and improves the standards of living by developing tourism. This study is focusing on the process of the tourism development in Nan-jhuang, Miaoli. The result shows that the development of tourism in Nan-jhuang is in a unique process with special historical, political and economical background. Tourism industries will not only create jobs and raise the standards of living, but also well preserve local heritage and protect environment in Nan-jhuang. In this moment the tourism industries are still growing. For Nan-jhuang, 'culture tourism' or 'eco-tourism' might be a good strategy for future development.
