The Physiological and Psychological Effects of Yuan-Ji Dance in Patients with Depression

摘要


The purpose of this study was to investigate the Physiological (cortisol, serotonin) and psychololgical (Depression, Sleep) effects of yuan-ji dance in patients with depression. The 8 female individuals were investigated in this study, all of whom were between 38±15.3 years old and were medically diagnosed with light depression for 1 to 2years. There were 8 volunteers divided into exercise group (4 persons) and control group (4 persons). The exercise group received a regular Yuan-Ji training 60 minutes a day, three days a week for eight weeks, and continues to take the medicine. The collected data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA with mixed design and simple main effect. The results showed: Follow 8-weeks Yuan-Ji traning, the variables of depression (F=6.06) and sleep quality (F=7.58) improved significantly (p<.05) for the exercise group, but there were not significant differences in present of serotonin and cotisol. There were significant correlations between sleep quality of exercise group and control group (F=6.06, p<.05). The conclusion for the study were two positive results for patients with emotional of depression. Taking Yuan-Ji training was not only enhancing the sleeping quality and depression, but also providing appopriate blood elements adjustment of exercise group. Therefore, Yuan-Ji training coordinates the medicine treatment to have doubles the effect, but must further perform in the endocrine hormone.
