The Effect of Altitude Training on Endurance Performance in High School Track Athletes

摘要

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect to altitude training on endurance performance in track athletes. Ten athletes were examined before and after one-week altitude training. Maximal oxygen consumption and cardiopulmonary fitness test were also measured before and after the altitude training. Body weight of these subjects was significantly reduced after the altitude training. We have found that maximal oxygen consumption, cardiopulmonary fitness, and running performance (distance for 12-min run) were significantly improved. One week after the altitude training, the better running performance was still well above sea-level. In the current study, we demonstrated that mild altitude training significantly improved the running endurance.
