The Main Reading Choice for Malayan Chinese in the 1920s - Daily Supplement

This paper discusses four important Chinese daily newspaper Supplements in Singapore in the 1920s. Discuss what kind of supplements are created and provided by producers in addition to the news from China, commentary and local reports? What kind of reading choices and fun can readers get in the daily newspaper? What changes have occurred in the daily newspaper supplement in the late 1920s? Therefore, the discussion focused on supplements (including comprehensive and pure literature supplements). At that time, the development of the daily newspaper supplement could not be said to be flourishing, but also left many traces of the efforts of newspaper producers, which was an important source of reading pleasure for the readers at those days. The important daily newspapers of Singapore in the 1920s included the "Lat Pau" published on December 3, 1881, "Union Times" which began in 1906, "Sin Kuo Min Press" which began in 1919(formerly known as "Kuo Min Press"), "Nanyang Siang Pau" which was founded on September 6, 1923 and the "Sin Chew Daily" which began on January 15, 1929. The "Union Times" did not focus on the development of the supplement, so the discussion in this paper focused on the production of the supplements of four others daily newspapers.
