弘光科技大學幼保系學生環境態度之研究:新環境典範量表之應用

A Study on the Environmental Attitude from the Department of Child Care and Education at Hungkuang University: The Application of New Environment Paradigm Scale

摘要


本研究旨在瞭解大學生的環境態度,透過Dunlap and Van Liere (1978)的新環境典範量表(New Environmental Paradigm, NEP)進而以弘光科技大學幼兒保育系的學生為研究對象,共發放問卷957份,回收857份,回收率89.6%,在剔除無效問卷後,共得有效樣本816份。研究結果顯示,題項9「改善自然環境以滿足人類生活需求,是人類所擁有的權利」雖然在項目分析中表現較不理想,但整體而言仍可接受。經因素分析後共萃取出三個因素構面,總解釋變異量為56.624%,分別命名為「自然界的平衡」、「反人類中心」、「成長的極限」。在環境態度各子構面的表現上,「自然界的平衡」與「成長的極限」兩構面的平均分數都在4.0以上,就這兩構面言,顯示幼保系學生的環境態度是趨於正向的;進入大學後有修過環境教育相關課程者,其環境態度明顯優於未修過者。根據研究結果提出相關之建議,以供校方或後續研究者參考。

The purpose of this study was to explore the attitude of university students toward the environment. The target population was from the Department of Child Care and Education at HungKuang University (HKU), Taiwan. The New Environment Paradigm (NEP) scale developed by Dunlap and Van Liere (1978) was administrated to understand students’ environmental attitudes. A total of 816 valid questionnaires were collected. The result indicated that even the item nine "It’s a human right to improve natural environment in order to fulfill humans’ living needs" was not well performed according to the item analysis, it was still acceptable. Factor analysis showed that there were three factors were developed, accounting for 56.624% of the total variance. These three factors were named as "Balance of nature", "Anti-anthropocentrism", and "Limit to growth". The average scores for factors of "Balance of nature" and "Limit of life" were above 4.0. This result revealed that the Department of Child Care and Education students at HKU have positive attitudes toward the environment. Students who have previous enrolled in environmental education related classes after entering college had better attitudes toward the environment than those students who didn’t. Suggestions were provided for curriculum modification and future research.
