Automation is an important development in modern agriculture. In order to increase the efficiency and to improve the flaws of present automation systems using in farms. The purpose of the research try to use Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs) technology to develop an integrated chicken farm automation system with multiple functions include temperature, relatively humidity, ammonia density, wind speed and raindrop measurements, and animal behavior monitoring. The system components include personal computer, sensing nodes, control nodes and curtain, water sprayer and ventilation devices to organized into a networked and remotable automatic environmented monitoring and control system. The field experiment of the research was cooperated with Kai Shing Trading Co., Ltd., who provided a chicken farm to build into a exhibit farm. By carrying out the driving and applications programs which can get environment data and decide current weather situation using if-then-else rules, to control the corresponding devices of the farm, which achieve low risk management of the farm and reduce labor. The system uses both wired and wireless communication to connect the nodes and the computer via the Internet. The digitized system is easy arranged in the farm. The collected information of chicken growth of the farm can enforce the traceability data to increase the food safety of the product of the farm.
