葉偉立攝影創作初探：1995-2011

摘要

藝術家在不同時代和環境下必須面臨各種考驗，試圖尋求自我的創作突破，用以尋求更高的創作表現與內涵，使其昇華為人類的共同遺產，十一歲便移民美國的攝影藝術家葉偉立，正是這樣努力中的例子。

葉偉立返台已十年，其間在寶藏巖三年的駐村創作，發展為五個階段的系列計畫，陸續為學者專家注目與研究。二○○八年，葉偉立離開寶藏巖，租下楊梅埔心日新街的老戲院，做為工作室使用，開始下一時期的計畫。筆者自二○○九年十月至二○一一年四月，以參與觀察法對其空間改造和所引發的事件與創作，進行影像拍攝與文字記錄，並回溯探究其一九九五年研究所時期後的創作脈絡，分析葉偉立創作的思考轉向，全面性地進行整體作品的交叉比對。

研究過程發現葉偉立因身處東西方文化的背景，身分的認同有著曖昧模糊的特質，試圖藉創作尋求穩定的可能，依此逐漸思考並探討領域間的關係；再者，創作媒材從影像、文字、地方場域等出發，衍伸到空間功能性與事件，最後再指向回攝影，展現出繁茂複雜的互文性，引發文本閱讀上的思考。本研究是對於藝術家的回顧整理，也希望藉由其多元與互文的特質，提供未來研究者，在討論葉偉立或其它藝術創作者時，一些基本的的資料和不同面向的思考角度。

In different generations, Artists Facing comprehensive challenges and searching breakthrough in artworks in order to achieve the highest aesthetic intension and expression for human being’s legacy.

As an emigrant in USA from Taiwan since 11, photographic artist Wei-Li Yeh is one of the good examples. Returning to Taiwan for a decade, in this period as a resident artist in Treasure Hill, Wei-Li Yeh developed 3 years project into collection program with 5 sections. After leaving the Treasure Hill In 2008, he rented an old theater in New Day St., Yangmei Township for his personal workshop and carries on with next projects. The Author proceeded through the artist’s projects between OCT 2009 to APR 2011, comprehensively compares artist’s artworks and contexts since 1995.

Living as bicultural background, the artist intended to find a steady possibility by creating artworks for his ambiguous Self-identity and developed it to the relationship between different domains; furthermore, the art materials begin with images, words, spaces then extend to occurrences and the function of spaces, finally return to photography. The whole proceeds reveal complicated intertextuality to inspire readers. This research is a review of Yeh’s creative experience, hoping the characteristic of variety and intertextuality could provide basic information and different perspectives for others.
